Oculus Superyacht

Luxury yachts, for the most part, typically sport the same sexy frames.  Occasionally, though, you chance upon one with such an unconventional styling that you just have know more.  The Oculus Yacht, whose lines resemble the head of a giant fish, is one such craft.
From afar, you'd probably think it was a robot fish straight out of Voltes V, swallowing the folks lined up on its deck.  Up close, you'd likely realize (erringly) that it really is a gigantic beast and try to get away as fast as you can.  Of course, you'll be wrong on both instances, since it's not a Prince Zardo creation at all.  Rather, it's just a really opulent ride with a decided resemblance to last night's seafood dinner.
Sporting a low-rider profile (characterized by a lowered surface) and a reverse bow configuration, the yacht can manage speeds of over 25 knots, with that gaping mouth scaring sightseers from the rear.  As a result, it looks like a giant fish running backwards, which only adds to the luxury watercraft's eccentric flavor.
Designed to fit 12 people in "extraordinary comfort and style", guests will get treated to amenities you otherwise couldn't find inside the guts of real sea creature.  Of course, creator Schöpfer Yachts LLC is still in the process of building the 250-foot Oculus Yacht, so all we can do for now is guess what will actually sit inside those walls.  I hope they add in a couple of sharp teeth just for good measure.

NECs CRV43 Desktop Display Curves, Covers Your Whole Periphery

A two-monitor setup not wide enough for you? Try NEC's latest desktop display, a curved 43-inch ultra-widescreen monitor called the CRV43, which lets you take up all that visual range so that you see nothing but a computer screen all day.
Encompassing the entire range of your periphery, it kicks even three-monitor displays squarely in the ass, showing ultra-wide portraits without any bezel to break your line of sight. NEC is purporting it will be perfect for numerous applications requiring a fuller field of view, including simulations, digital imaging, computer design and...well...games. Yep, them games - always figuring into the best hardware that technology has to offer.
Apart from the seamless 43-inch screen real-estate, the CRV43 features a response time that's 100 times faster than conventional LCDs, a double WXGA 2880 x 900 resolution, a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and a color gamut that spans 100% of the sRGB range (plus 99.3% of Adobe RGB). As you may have guessed from the numbers, it's not a real LCD monitor - instead, it's actually four DLP projectors stretched together, brightened up by generous amounts of LED. It offers a number of connections, including DVI, HDMI and USB.
Movies may look a bit strange stretched to cover the whole panel, as it fits a 32:10 aspect ratio, so I suggest using it for more important functions like splitting your desktop to make PC work easier, laying out wide graphic and technical designs, and...um... games. At any rate, the NEC CRV43 won't be an accessory purchase, selling for a pocket-burning $8,000. It's available for pre-order now, with shipments beginning in July.

Perfect For Your Lightcycle: TRON Legacy Motorcycle Suits

You already own a LightcycleNow, all you need is the matching outfit to make the perfect entrance at the local "TRON: Legacy" premiere. UD Replicas has you covered with their Sam Flynn and Quorra TRON motorcycle suits.  Yep, one for you and one for your imaginary girlfriend.
Both attires feature those lines and circles that make the costumes easily identifiable with the movie.  Instead of beaming LEDs, though, they're made from a light-sensitive reflective material that should be just as visible in the dark, provided there's some amount of illumination around.
The TRON motorcycle suits come in separate jackets and pants, along with matching pairs of gloves and boots.  They feature CE-approved body armor, form-molded leather detailing, heavy-duty spandex inserts and a form-molded leather disk.
Like UD Replicas' other biker attires, the suits are fully-wearable, provided you're willing to put up with the occasional insult for your geeky fanboy ways.  You can get them individually (jacket, pants, gloves or boots only) or as a complete gear ($995 for the Sam Flynn version and $899 for the Quorra).  Only 1,000 sets of the male version will be made, with 500 of the female suits hitting the shelves.
Deliveries start on the first week of December.

Suitjamas Let You Look Dapper In Your Sleep

Want to look your best even when you hit the bunk?  Then suit up.  No, really.  Ditch the SpongeBob PJs and look dashing in your sleep with these Suitjamas.

Looks familiar, but can't quite place it?  The threads are actually a faithful recreation of the crazy wardrobe Barney Stinson slips into at night before bed in How I Met Your Mother.  And it's not just a costume for your next slumber party, either -- this thing is supposedly designed to really help you sleep comfortably.
The Suitjama is a four-piece sleepwear set consisting of a shirt,  a jacket, a pair of pants and a clip-on necktie (so you don't end up strangling yourself accidentally).   We're not sure what the actual make is, but it looks like soft silk satin, complete with that shiny finish that can let you double as a walking nightlight reflector.   While the set is designed for men, the product page claims they have many female customers who love the fit and feel of the pajamas, too.
Sold in two color styles (black/white and Barney Stinson's purple), it's easily the best way to stay dapper even while you snore, drool and dream about flying alien unicorns.  If you're the type who gets hunger pangs in the middle of the night, you can even save yourself a trip to the kitchen by keeping a couple Tactical Sammiches in the pants pockets, too.
If you've been wondering what outfit in your closet will go best with a Pillow Tie, these Suitjamas should make for a nice candidate.  They're available in multiple sizes (S to XXL), priced at $89.95.

Super WiFi Antenna Harvests Signals Up To 1 Mile Away

Free wifi hotspots -- I love them, you love them, everybody loves them.  Sure, you have enough money to pay for internet any time you need it, but you tend to feel better about yourself when you leech access off other people's networks.  That's just how you roll.  Well, then, you'll love the Crane US3 Super WiFi Antenna.
No, "super" isn't an exaggeration here.  It really is a high-performing WiFi antenna, harvesting signals from way, way further than what you'll normally pick up with the built-in radio on your computer.
The Super WiFi Antenna is a USB gadget that plugs into your computer, allowing you to see wireless networks from as far as 1 mile away.  It requires line of sight to make the full mile, though (no obstructions), but you should still be able to get signals from a far distance even in a crowded city (if really necessary, you can always set up work on the roof).
The actual antenna measures 10 x 1.4 x 0.6 inches, with a 15-foot long USB cable on its tail.  It can work with both Macs and Windows PCs, as well as with all routers (b, g, n).  The antenna powers via the computer (it has two USB plugs on the end), so there's no need to hook it up to a wall outlet, making it convenient to use during camping and other outdoor trips.  It includes a full set of mounting options that include a hanging lanyard, a cable tie, a hook and loop material, and suction cups.
Amazon has the Crane US3 Super WIFi Antenna available now.  Price is $99.95

Assisi LED Planter Is A Gardening Pot That Doubles As A Lamp

Yesterday, you decided you want to install additional lighting in your doorway.  This morning, you decided you don't want to do any handyman work.  Tomorrow, this is the solution you will buy: the Assisi LED Planter.
Made by Konstsmide, it's a plant pot that doubles as a doorway lamp.  You can use it pretty much like any planter growing your begonias, crotons and whatever other houseplants you like to keep around.  Because of the lighting components, though, it's not fully weatherproof, so they recommend it for doorways and other sheltered areas rather than through open walking paths in the yard and similar spaces

The Assisi LED Planter comes in two sizes, small (28 cm height and diameter) and large (40 x 37 cm).  Both are decked in a white exterior material, with 15 white LEDs installed on the base providing all the illumination you need.  Each one comes with a 6.5-foot long cable and a transformer for hooking up to a wall outlet.
We're not sure how well this can play for use inside the house, but a pot for indoor plants that doubles as a floor lamp sounds like an excellent piece to set up in the living room.  Heck, you can probably get the small version to use as a desk lamp/desk plant for the bedroom or the study, too.
Now, if only the Click N Grow can come in a LED lamp version, it will truly be the best gardening solution ever.  The Assisi LED Planter is available now, priced at £32.50 for the small and £52.00 for the large.

BANG! by bitplay INC.

Remote controls make everything better -- even pillows But what makes remote controls better?  Turns out they become more awesome when the remote comes in the shape of a gun.  Proof: the Bang! Lamp.
Made by Bitplay, it's a novelty desk lamp that you turn on and off using a pistol-shaped remote control.  Aim the gun, pull the trigger and the lamp turns on; do it again and it switches off.  Basically, it's like a cooler, more awesome version of a clapper, letting you play shootout in the living room instead of just slapping your hands together.
The BANG! Lamp doesn't just switch on and off when you shoot at it -- the shade tilts to the other side like it's been hit by an invisible projectile, so the entire shooting sequence feels authentic.  You can fire the gun from a distance as far back as 49 feet, so long as the nozzle's aimed straight at the lamp.  The styling and design are pretty conventional, so it looks just like any regular desk lighting furniture, too.  Except, of course, that the shade's knocked over to the side, which is kind of like how you wear your snapbacks, so it's still pretty normal.
We're not exactly sure what's the best place to buy the Bang! Lamp, but they do list a bunch of distributors across numerous countries right on the website.  Price is $299.  Now, if only there's a way to make the gun remote do pew-pew sounds every time you shoot, it's all we'll need to make life complete.

Glowdoggie - Keep them safe

Your dog has a habit of leaving the house and taking a dump in the vacant lot two blocks away after dinner every night.  And you're cool with that -- saves you from having to clean up.  Problem is, he doesn't always go straight home right away and you've had to get out to look for him more than a couple of times.  Here's a way to make finding your pooch just a tad less of a chore: the Glowdoggie.
A collar with built-in LEDs, it makes finding your dog during nighttime a lot easier.  Just find where the colorful light source is, follow the path and you'll find the wayward mutt.  Unless a leprechaun stole the collar, of course.  At which point, horror commences.
The GlowDoggie's body actually looks like those tube-type bike locks, except with LEDs  installed inside them.  All electronic components are safely nestled inside the durable tube, making the assembly long-lasting and waterproof for all-weather use.   The tube comes in bright translucent colors which, coupled with superflux LEDs, enable high visibility under low-light conditions.
Unlike most illuminated collars, there's no switch to turn the lights on.  Instead, the collar features a motion sensor that automatically detects when the dog is moving and activates the LEDs to keep your pet visible.  It's available in different models with different sizes, colors, batteries and types of LEDs.
Prices for the Glowdoggie range from $49.99 to $64.99.  You can buy them directly from the official website.

Deanmark Airmouse

The world is in desperate need of a new solution so that we can once and for all get rid of the mouse, the one gadget that has injured more people than American football probably has. The AirMouse is basically a glove that you put on which interacts with the computer and enables you to move and work just like you usually would with a mouse, but in mid air. This solution is way less likely to strain your wrists, so it is a better choice for many people who haven’t been able to use a computer since they were injured. Is this the future of computer interaction?

Nokia's flexible screen technology

Some time ago we talked about the introduction of a new technology by 3M that allowed flexible touchscreensand we stated that it was just a matter of time before the technology would be put to use. Looks like we’re there! Last week a few manufacturers presented prototypes of devices with this technology put to use. Nokia introduced the Nokia Kinetic Device (video below) that uses bending of the device as a form of input to, for example, ‘pinch to zoom’ (or in this case ‘bend to zoom’).

And some days later Samsung’s Vice President reportedly stated that their company will come out with a smartphone and/or table with flexible touchscreen somewhere in 2012 (again: video below of an earlier prototype).

Things are moving quickly! And the time between renders of awesome concepts to actual products in the stores seems to get shorter every year!

LG 55-inch 3D OLED HD TV

You've gotta hate the TV industry. Whatever HD TV you eventually buy, there's always a newer, smarter, brighter and sleeker model waiting to outdo it.
At least we can see where the technology train is heading. Next stop: LG's 55-inch 3D OLED HD TV.
The 55EM9600 is the world's largest OLED telly. Not only is it superbly bright and clear, but it's almost ridiculously thin. Get a ruler out and you'll see it's a mere 4mm thick, with a 1mm bezel that gives the impression of an edge-to-edge picture.

Samsung 'Smart Evolution' kit

Want a future-proof TV? Samsung is claiming that its 2012 Smart TVs will be exactly that thanks to a modular upgrade feature. "Thanks to its proprietary system-on-chip technology, Samsung is the only company that can deliver an evolving TV," says the company.

Canon Rebel T2i Review

Canon Rebel T2i Review: This Should Be Your First DSLR

Canon's Rebel T2i is an incredible camera—everything a first DSLR should be. It takes fantastic photos (and, crucially, video) for the price, it's easy to use, and perhaps most importantly, it's a camera you can grow with.
But there's no shame in using it if you really know what you're doing, either.
That's in part because it's a semi-pro camera, dressed down. The $900 T2i is essentially Canon's mid-range $1900 7D, one of the best DSLRs for the money, shoved into a simpler, smaller body. Namely, it uses an 18-megapixel APS-C image sensor that's not too different from the 7D's; the same 1080p/full manual video capabilities; and the same IFCL 63-layer dual-zone metering system, adjusted for the T2i's different autofocus setup.
And for anyone just getting into DSLR photography, the power to package ratio is phenomenal. That said, it still feels like an entry-level DSLR, for better and worse.
